We met KC about five years ago at an art gallery in downtown Orlando. We were drawn to her work right away. We bought two of her pieces that night and looking forward to having more of her work in our little local artists collection. We became fast friends, KC and Courtney took some figure drawing classes together and she hired us to do some commercial photography for the company she worked for. We loved that she wanted us to take her portraits and we loved being in her studio to capture her working. Thank you KC <3 You can see more of KC’s work here.
KC Cali is a representational artist in Orlando. Originally from Vermont, she moved here in 1999. KC earned a bachelor’s degree in illustration from Massachusetts College of Art and Design but turned to a career in graphic design after graduation. She didn’t begin painting until 2010 and now considers painting her second job. She has a day job and she told us that while it does cut in to painting time, it also allows her the freedom to paint what she pleases. Her favorite subject is the figure – the result of years of exclusively drawing from the figure at local life drawing sessions – and she’s currently working on pieces featuring people in the environment as an acknowledgement of the difficulty of presenting art of the nude locally.
